Ch. 8

The guy with the crewcut head moved Xia Shoucheng's body out from the corner.

Lou Ai saw several shoe prints on Xia Shoucheng's body that were left as a result of venting anger. It was probably because they had randomly placed him in the corner when he was sent in.

"Do you know that there are crystal cores inside the zombies' heads?" Lou Ai asked.

Xia Xing shook his head: "Just like what is said in the apocalyptic novels?"

"Yes, that's right. The crystal core is approximately in this position. One of you should dig out the crystal core in his brain." Lou Ai said clearly, "Others, pay close attention. The zombie is just infected with the virus, but he is still a human being in essence. His brain structure is exactly the same as ours."

"Who will come?" Lou Ai asked.

"I'll do it." The crewcut-haired guy responded first, "I'm the strongest, I can definitely do it."

"Be careful not to let zombie blood get into your mouth and eyes. If it splashes in, rinse it immediately. Compared to bite marks, scratches and various running wounds on the body, the probability of blood infection is very low, but there is still a chance." Lou Ai reminded of the precautions.

The guy with the crewcut head simply put a plastic bag on his head, held the steel pipe tightly and walked forward.

"Be careful, if you have scars on your hands, don't touch the zombie crystal core directly." Lou Ai said.

"Come on!" The crewcut-haired man whispered to himself to encourage himself, and then fought hard. Dark red blood flowed out. He gritted his teeth and fumbled for a while at the place where Lou Ai had pointed, took out the hexagonal crystal core, and wiped it clean with the toilet paper in his hand, "Sister, is this what you are talking about?"

After Lou Ai nodded, the man with the crewcut head suddenly let out a long sigh, covered his chest with his hands, ran to the corner and vomited, took down the plastic bag, and started coughing vigorously.

The actions of the young man set off a series of chain reactions. Several people couldn't help but turn their heads back and said, "Ugh."

These bursts of vomiting sounds are so rough.

Lou Ai couldn't help her face turning green and opened the door: "If you want to vomit, just get out now. This room is so small. If you vomit, how can we still live in this room?" Lou Ai couldn't imagine herself, a zombie, staying in a room full of human vomit.

A group of people ran to the toilet next door one after another.

Lou Ai watched and shrugged. The first time she dug out the zombie's skull, her reaction seemed to be more violent than theirs. She vomited so hard that she almost vomited bile, but she still had to keep running for her life. Later, the zombie crystal core exchanged her for a sufficient portion of white porridge and pickles in the base. The white porridge was so fragrant, it warmed her heart and stomach.

How about having white porridge tomorrow morning? There happened to be rice in the supplies in the corner. She hadn’t had white porridge since she became a zombie.

It's always better than those instant noodles that are full of decadent taste.

It took a while before Lou Ai saw several people returning to the room with yellow faces.

"Now that you're all back, let's continue the lesson." Lou Ai lifted Xia Shoucheng's arm with the leg of a chair. "Have you seen the zombies' nails? They're purple-black, the same color as blood, and extremely hard. An ordinary zombie can scratch through a two-centimeter-thick wooden board with just one grab. Also, the saliva on their teeth is where the most zombie viruses are stored. The teeth can bite a small hole in a one-centimeter-thick steel plate." Lou Ai licked the canine teeth that had grown later. They were very hard, but much smaller than those of ordinary zombies. They could be perfectly hidden in the mouth, and were more like human fangs.

Lou Ai pointed at Xia Shoucheng again and again, explaining the zombies' weaknesses to the teenagers.

"That's about it." Lou Ai looked down. Yang Yang and the boy with glasses were good students, writing down the key points with pens and paper, while the boy with the crewcut head was fidgeting on his chair, forcing himself to listen. Xia Xing and the silent child were just watching very seriously, not knowing how much they understood. "You can try it out when you go to look for supplies tomorrow."

"Good." The guy with the crewcut head cheered at this time.

"Okay, okay, you're the one who doesn't listen carefully. Be careful to protect your life tomorrow." Lou Ai casually threw the zombie crystal core in his hand onto the top of the short-haired guy's head, "Yang Yang, take this crystal core. I'll teach you how to upgrade your superpowers."

"Okay." Now it was Yang Yang's turn to have bright eyes.

Lou Ai nodded, tore the flyer off the small bed, and hastily wrapped Xia Shoucheng's body with a blue and white checkered bed sheet and put it aside: "When you go down tomorrow, take old man Xia's body with you and throw it in the flower bed over there."

"Ah, we still have to stay with the corpse for a whole night, it would be much easier to just throw it out of the window." The man with glasses had completely distanced himself from Xia Shoucheng. He was also angry and gritted his teeth, "He almost killed us. It's not worth the trouble at all. Putting it in the flower bed is too easy for him. He should have put it with the zombies."

Xia Xing and Yang Yang with the crewcut head both nodded in agreement.

"Chengzi, when you die, it's over. Everything is over."

Lou Ai was just about to say something when the silent child spoke his first words of the day, other than pleading for Xia Shoucheng. His voice was a little hoarse, but very attractive and pleasant to hear.

"He's right. Death is the greatest punishment." Lou Ai didn't think too much when she rolled up the corpse. She had a natural awe of corpses. "The disappearance of life is not something to be happy about. You will meet many corpses in the future. Some have grudges against you, some have great grudges, and some are disgusting. But I hope you will not vent your anger on the corpses no matter what."

"Sister Lou Ai, you are right, that's very good." The silent child nodded seriously.

Lou Ai touched the back of his head. No one had praised her for years. Now she was actually praised by a child. She was quite happy. "Well, Old Man Xia made us teaching props. I just gave him some respect. There is nothing more to say."

"Actually, there's nothing wrong in giving him some respect. Xia Chengcheng's grandfather also helped me fight zombies." Yang Yang thought for a while and said this. Xia Xing and the others also looked at the corpse thoughtfully.

The next morning, Yang Yang brought a group of young boys and carried Xia Shoucheng's body downstairs.

Yang Yang also chose a place where the holly trees grew best for Xia Shoucheng and put them down.

Lou Ai took the time to check on the position of her car. The two zombies, one fat and one thin, were still squatting in front of her car door. Snowflakes were piling up on the zombies' heads. After the sun came out, the snow began to melt, and the flowing water seemed to make the zombies uncomfortable. The fat zombie let out an angry roar, but the fat one still held the car door with his hands and did not move.

She didn't order them not to change positions, did she? Aren't they frozen?

Lou Ai walked past the two zombies and ignored them.

“Oh hoo…” “Uh hoo… hoo”

The two zombies recognized Lou Ai's scent and watched her anxiously as she ran away, but they were still afraid of the orders from the higher-level zombies and stared without daring to move.

Lou Ai followed Yang Yang and the others not too far away. When they went downstairs this morning, she had told Yang Yang in advance that she would not help to rescue anyone, and asked Yang Yang to always pay attention to the range of his supernatural powers. It can be said that Yang Yang is the guarantee for these people to practice fighting.

Lou Ai watched as several people went from killing a zombie that was chasing them to actively luring a zombie over.

They went from pushing the responsibility of touching the crystal core to easily taking out the zombie crystal core, and the disgusting expression on their faces at the beginning disappeared unknowingly.

However, in just one day, earth-shaking changes took place in these young people.

Lou Ai looked at Yang Yang who was handing her a zombie crystal core and smiled. She handed each of them a grape and milk flavored lollipop and said with a smile, "Thank you for your hard work. I'll take two crystal cores as hard work fee, and you can divide the rest among yourselves."

After two days of boring life of killing zombies, Lou Ai absorbed about two hundred zero-level zombie crystal cores during these two days, which was still far from meeting the conditions for upgrading.

On the tenth day after the apocalypse began, Lou Ai opened her eyes to the smell of fermented flour.

She lay in her little bed and didn't think much about it.

They take turns to keep watch at night.

Fortunately, it was her turn to keep watch, as she still had something to do.

When it was her turn to sleep, she was in trouble. She couldn't fall asleep when she heard the breathing of people around her. She could only close her eyes and rest. She didn't have this problem in her previous life. At most, she had a shallow sleep. Why couldn't she fall asleep now? Fortunately, her zombie body didn't need much sleep. Otherwise, what if she fell asleep while killing zombies?

"Sister Lou Ai, you're awake. We made pancakes today. It's the first time I make pancakes by myself. Come and try it." Xia Xing said excitedly.

Lou Ai sat up, took a pancake and took a bite: "Where are you going to collect supplies today?"

"We agreed to go to the noodle shop in the back. There must be uncooked noodles in there, and maybe some sausages that haven't been taken away." The crew cut said, looking at the stick with two kitchen knives tied to its legs. "I upgraded my weapon yesterday. Let me try it today to see if it works."

"Do you think it will be useful in this state?" Lou Ai looked at the stick again, which was in a strange shape.

"I think so. I've tried these two knives and they're pretty sharp. They should be able to chop off the zombie's head, right?"

"Just think about good things."

"Sister Lou Ai, why do you always hit me down every day?"

"We are not like you, so stupid." said the boy with glasses with a smile.

Lou Ai looked at the others carefully, and they were not much smarter than this silly guy: "Let's go to the noodle shop today. I'll go with you and teach you something new."

The noodle shop is on the commercial street where the warning slogans are posted. There are many shops on the commercial street, and from time to time, humans who are too hungry to bear it will come here, so there are more zombies gathered here than on the front street.

"Roar... Roar... Cluck, cluck, cluck."

As soon as Lou Ai and the others appeared, the zombies at the scene showed excitement and rushed up after them with joy.

Ten days after the apocalypse, the zombies' movements were much faster than on the first day.

The guy with the crewcut head led the way, Yang Yang was in the middle, and Lou Ai followed behind them leisurely. Yang Yang began to use his special powers to protect the guys all the way, smashed the rolling door, and entered the noodle shop. After the door closed, the guy with the crewcut head Xia Xing quickly pulled the rolling door into the air for defense.

Yang Yang removed the restrictions on superpowers at the right time.

Lou Ai looked around and checked all the exits. She easily saw the slightly open back door, but she didn't say anything.

"The first thing to do when entering an unfamiliar environment is to check various escape exits..." Lou Ai knocked on Yang Yang's hand, who was first organizing supplies, with the leg of a chair. Before she could finish her words, the back door was pushed open.

"Wait, don't move. Who are you? Why are you here to steal supplies?" An old lady in a red sportswear came in and spoke in a sharp voice, "A bunch of kids who haven't even grown all their hair yet dare to learn to steal things from others. How did your parents teach you? I don't think the people who call out people like you are good people either."

The aunt stared at several people with a fierce look on her face. When she saw Lou Ai, she focused her sight on her. Looking at Lou Ai's neatly combed hair and the little yellow duck hair accessories, she secretly muttered: "Who are you dressing up like that for in this world? It seems that she was not a good person before the end of the world. She was born by a mother but not taught by a father."

Thanks to Lou Ai's hearing, she could hear these mutterings clearly.
