Ch. 7

Lou Ai walked out and closed the door. After a while, she heard the suppressed crying of several children in the room, which was getting louder and louder.

Lou Ai didn't have the heart to memorize things for a moment. She put down her phone, took out a few zombie crystal cores, and stuffed them into her mouth with force, feeling the magic of the crystal cores turning into a warm current in her mouth. She walked to the window, opened it a crack, and looked up at the moon quietly. The moon was blocked by gray clouds, and cold wind blew in through the window gaps.

"It's snowing?" A low cry suddenly came from a few floors above. Lou Ai reached out and caught a piece of snow. It was really snow?!

The crystal ice crystals fell on the gloves and turned into small water droplets after a while.

Lou Ai squinted her eyes and watched the dancing snowflakes. In March, the weather had warmed up where she was, and it actually snowed less frequently, but this snow still fell.

She looked through the snow at the commercial street behind the supermarket. It was originally a prosperous business district. Normally, it should have been brightly lit and bustling at this time, but at this time it was pitch dark, without any light. There were only a dozen zombies wandering on the street, making angry roars from time to time.

Abandoned cars were parked in groups on the road, and plastic bags were dancing in the wind.

Lou Ai has very good eyesight, and after the upgrade, it has become even better.

She could clearly see the Hello Kitty pattern on the plastic bag and the words written on the large billboard on the street.

Someone had pasted a huge piece of white paper on the billboard, with this written on it.

“The zombies’ bodies are stiff and their movements are very slow.

Vision and smell are very sensitive, so strong light and irritating smells have a certain hindering effect on zombies.

The sound will attract the attention of zombies. Only by hitting the head will the zombies die completely. There are crystal cores in the zombies' brains.

Zombies are not invincible. May our motherland overcome the disaster."

The white paper was already covered in dirt, probably having been put there a few days ago.

Lou Ai looked at it and couldn't help but smile. This billboard really made people feel warm even in the cold winter.

Lou Ai closed the window tightly, waited for a while, turned her head and looked towards the small room. More than ten minutes had passed.

There was no sound in the small room, so she knocked on the door and walked in.

Xia Shoucheng's body disappeared. Several people sat on the ground in silence, with mixed emotions of anger, shame and other emotions on their faces.

Lou Ai sat on the bed and said with a smile, "I think you should practice your shamelessness. Really, I just ate so much of your supplies, and you didn't kick me out. I wanted to use the argument to beat you all down and kill Grandpa Xia legitimately, but why did I look like a bad guy just now?"

"You knew that Grandpa Xia had turned into a zombie a long time ago, right?" The guy with the crewcut head was the most impatient, but he also avoided Lou Ai's gaze guiltily when he spoke.

"Yes, it's my special ability. I can control zombies for a short period of time. When I was in the supermarket, I found that I could control Grandpa Xia. Don't you think it's ridiculous?" Lou Ai sat on the chair and clarified, "I am a very kind girl. He lied to you about the water. I found the water first. Your Grandpa Xia said he hid it there, so I gave it to him."

"I'm helping you this time out of a favor from Xia Xing, so you don't have to mind it." Lou Ai said.

Xia Xing's eyes were red, he pursed his lips and said nothing.

Yang Yang's short hair was messed up into a ball. He stood up, patted his knees, and said seriously: "Thank you, thank you so much."

"And then?" Lou Ai couldn't help laughing. These kids were so serious!

"I'm sorry." As soon as Lou Ai finished speaking, the boy with glasses stood up suddenly, and the silent child next to him stood up as well.

Lou Ai turned her gaze towards the direction of the supplies.

"Sister, take whatever you want to eat." The guy with the crewcut head changed his address and pointed at the supplies and said proudly, "You saved these people anyway, so you can eat whatever you want." No one objected to what the guy with the flat head said. Lou Ai believed that even if she took all the supplies away now, no one would stand up to stop her.

"Thank you. Please bring my marshmallows over." Lou Ai said, using the backpack as a cover to take five boxes of milk and five chocolates to share with them. "One box for each person. These chocolates are quite delicious. Stop looking so sad. We are still alive. Have you thought about what you want to do next?"

"Just like before, collect supplies and wait for military rescue." Yang Yang has always been the one with the clearest goal.

"What if the army doesn't come?" Lou Ai asked.

"Then find a team to join. It's always better to gather with the crowd than for a few kids like us." Yang Yang said seriously.

"You guys think so too?" Lou Ai looked at the teenagers and took a mouthful of marshmallow. "Don't you miss your parents?"

Lou Ai's words seemed to have stirred up a hornet's nest. The already unstable emotions of several people instantly fluctuated again. Silence spread in the small room, but no one asked Lou Ai for help and asked her to take them to find their parents.

"Of course I do. How can I not? I don't even know if my parents are still alive." Yang Yang grabbed his hair again, his eyes reddened. "But things have already come to this. I have to make sure I am alive first, and there is that moment of reunion. Xingxing and Sanshi also think so."

Lou Ai nodded without saying anything and changed the subject: "Yang Yang, what is your special ability?"

"We have discussed this and have done experiments. It doesn't have any great abilities, just the ability to block auras or something like that. When it's at its most powerful, it can interfere with the zombies' choices and make them go in the opposite direction." Yang Yang calmed his breath and said dissatisfiedly, "It has no combat power, it's pretty useless."

Lou Ai looked at Yang Yang about this ability. If it was only the ability to block breath, then it was indeed a common psychic ability. If practiced well, it could be a powerful stealth killer. But if it could interfere with the zombies' choices, then this ability would be different.

Lou Ai thought about it, took out her cell phone, and found a photo of a woman around 40 years old from the information.

"Yang Yang, do you know this person?" Lou Ai asked.

"Hey, I think I've seen her with Yang Yang before." The man with glasses adjusted his glasses and said.

"Well, she took over my tutoring class. She is my aunt. She is very capable and works in a laboratory. Sister, do you know my aunt?" Yang Yang said.

A researcher who studies machinery, a person from Province S, and a nephew who had a dead psychic ability, all met each other.

Cong Fenhua, one and a half years after the apocalypse, made a zombie jammer based on her research on the crystal core of her dead nephew's superpower, and saved many superpower teams who were out collecting supplies. When it was heard that she had died of an acute illness, all the flags in the large bases were lowered to half-mast. At that time, large-scale zombie jammers had been installed in the large bases. If the Lincheng base had also installed them, it might not have been surrounded by zombies, and she would not have lost her life when she and Lou Qiangguo escaped.

"Yang Yang, how much superpower do you have now? Try using your superpower on me." Lou Ai stood up and said.

Yang Yang didn't understand, but still stood up and used his ability obediently.

Lou Ai felt the fluctuations in her mind, and a voice told her that there was delicious food outside the door. It was a very weak fluctuation, but zombies had underdeveloped brains, so it was normal for them to be attracted. But for her, the aura in her mind was too weak, and the impact was negligible.

But the principle of the zombie jammer is to amplify this interference tens of thousands of times.

Can she still stand here as if nothing happened?

Will she interfere with the base by then?

But this thing cannot be without.

The two lines in Lou Ai's mind crossed over, forming a big cross.

"Do you know which research institute your aunt works in?" Lou Ai asked directly.

"She works in a research institute of a mechanical processing plant in Qiang'an County, the neighboring city." Yang Yang said obediently.

"Is the research institute controlled by the military? Or is there a military base in Qiang'an County?" If she remembered correctly, the nearest small base to them was built in Qiang'an County, and Cong Fenhua said in an interview that she started researching the zombie jammer after the base in Qiang'an County was breached by the zombie siege.

"Qiangan County already has a military base, and my grandparents are here." Xia Xing said.

"Yang Yang, can I talk to your aunt when we get to the base?" Lou Ai lowered her eyes. The environment in Qiang'an County is good, and there is a military, but the place is small and the distance from the central base is far. If this is the case, it is better to develop a zombie jammer in advance. After the development is successful, Qiang'an County can be saved, and she can also deal with the zombie jammer one step earlier. "I have something that I want your aunt to study. According to the theory my friend said, I think it can be done."

"Sure, I grew up in my aunt's house when I was a child. I have a very good relationship with her. I can introduce you to each other." Yang Yang nodded, "As long as she is fine." As Yang Yang spoke, he looked at Lou Ai embarrassedly.

"Thank you." Lou Ai put away her phone, sat back on the chair, and picked up her bucket of marshmallows. "Anything else?"

Yang Yang said, "If you want to go to Qiang'an County first, that's fine too. I'll give you the jade pendant, which I've worn since I was a child. You can also go directly to my aunt. My aunt is very reasonable and she won't deny it."

Lou Ai shook her head: "Who said I was leaving?"

Yang Yang breathed a sigh of relief and made a request: "Then can you teach us how to fight zombies?"

Lou Ai asked: "Is this something you discussed together?"

"It was Yang Yang who proposed it, and we all agreed." Xia Xing said. Several people nodded, not daring to look at her. Even the guy with the crewcut head was extremely ashamed. They had treated Lou Ai like that before, and now they were shamelessly asking for help. They were really shameless.

Lou Ai closed the marshmallow box, patted her hands covered with powdered sugar, and smiled. She was willing to teach a rookie in the apocalypse.

It’s been a long time since she brought in new people.

"Okay, you guys have never fought zombies alone, right?"

"No."

"Have you ever killed a zombie?"

"I've killed two of them. They were both quite weak."

"It's purely due to the supernatural power. Where did you put Grandpa Xia's body?"
