Ch. 18

The Qiang'an base adopts the method of manual observation of zombies. Two soldiers are deployed at intervals within the base. A simple isolation zone is formed in the middle with barbed wire and roadblocks and wooden boards. The base is heavily guarded. Unless zombies besiege the city, such standard configuration is more than enough to deal with the current zombies.

"Our country is really amazing. It hasn't been long since we built the base. Moreover, this base is exactly the same as the one I dreamed about last night." The crewcut-haired guy exclaimed and laughed, "Look, there are wild rabbits here. Qiang County has a great environment."

"It's true, there are really wild rabbits." Yang Yang said, "We also encountered many small animals on the road. It's so cold, why are the animals so active? But at least we won't starve to death. When we are hungry next time, we can catch rabbits and roast them."

"To be honest, roasted rabbit is pretty good. There was a restaurant in Ziyue that served particularly good food."

I’m afraid that in the future it won’t be people catching rabbits but rabbits catching people.

The smile on Lou Ai's lips slowly faded. She counted the days and there was only half a month left, and the second purple moon would be here soon.

She followed the small truck in front of her and walked for about five minutes before entering the second checkpoint of the Qiang'an base.

The second checkpoint was made up of countless tents. There were soldiers standing on high places looking out with binoculars, and there were more than two rows of patrol teams.

Under the tent, there were visibly more people.

The newcomers, as well as the soldiers out on missions, need to be locked in the tent at the second checkpoint for forty-eight hours, until they turn into zombies, before they can finally register and pass the final checkpoint and enter the interior of the Qiang'an base.

"Everyone, please line up and collect your number plates. If you have any wounds, please tell us. We have special staff who will clean and bandage them professionally. In this environment, if the wounds are directly exposed to the air, it is equivalent to burying your life."

"Come, come, line up. Don't cut in line. You all came in at the same time. Even if you got it one or two hours earlier, we won't let you in earlier. You will all be arranged to enter the base together when the time comes."

"Don't worry, don't worry. The houses in our base are enough to accommodate hundreds of thousands of people."

Around the army green tent, all kinds of sounds can be heard, including the neighborhood committee lady with a loud speaker, the girl at the registration office shouting at people not to cut in line, and the gentle whispers of medical staff in white coats going back and forth to provide rescue. These sounds drag the entire base out of its rigid and solemn impression and irrigate it with the strong smell of life.

Lou Ai looked at the relaxed crowd around her and began to look forward to life in Qiang'an Base.

In her previous life, she did not stay here. She directly asked someone to arrange for her to follow the army to Fengcheng and went to Fengcheng Base. On the way, she encountered the second round of purple moon. Three of the 120 soldiers in the army were transformed into zombies. In addition, there were zombie animals that suddenly appeared. After a bloody battle, only 52 of the 120 survived.

When they arrived at Fengcheng Base, it was already a week and a half after the second purple moon. At that time, the management of Fengcheng Base was militarized, and rules were paramount. The army entered the base, but she and several hitchhikers were left outside the base. Due to injuries, they were even driven to the farthest corner.

She made tremendous efforts to transform the homeless people living outside the Maple City base into people who can live in the base houses.

Lou Ai looked at the temporary living certificate in her hand. She didn't expect that after becoming a zombie in this life, she could easily become a member of the base.

"Cars cannot be driven into the base. If you need to keep them, you can go to the army. You only need to pay the price of three crystal cores to get a parking space. If you don't have crystal cores, you can exchange them for food, bedding and other daily necessities. If you don't have any and can't bear to throw away the car directly, you can also choose to exchange the car with the army for some food. There will be someone special to explain the work and housing matters after you enter the base." The reception staff said gently.

"Sister Lou Ai, you can exchange the supplies in the car for a parking space. I've asked around, and zombie crystal cores are now like currency. There's nothing you can't buy with money. And we have a batch of milk and bread that are about to expire, so we can just exchange them." Yang Yang came over quietly.

"Then I'll go change the parking space first. You guys register here. After registration, help me get the tent."

"Good."

Lou Ai walked towards the army. The person in charge of the parking spaces was none other than Xiang Chunyan. She looked at Xiang Chunyan chatting happily with the boy who fought zombies with her two days ago, and she couldn't help but feel her temples throbbing twice.

They were obviously three boys of different ages, but they seemed to become familiar with each other quickly because of her.

"Dai Ji..."

"Shut up." Lou Ai got angry.

"Okay, then let's call you little flowers and trees..."

"No." What would he call her if she wore a little skull, a little fish, or a little dinosaur in the future? Lou Ai couldn't help but frown when she thought about it.

"I've told you to just call her master together with me." Xiang Chunyan said contemptuously, "Your level of honorifics is too poor."

"You shut up too." Lou Ai rubbed her temples. "If you really want to respect me, just call me Sister Lou Ai. I'm here to apply for a parking space."

"Hello, Sister Lou Ai. My name is Yao Shengyi. Nice to meet you." Yao Shengyi was the boy riding the scooter. "Thank you for saving us. If it weren't for you, we would have died there."

"Hello, my name is Lin Chen." Lin Chen is a middle-aged man with a face full of stubble .

"Saving you is just a matter of convenience..." Lou Ai shook hands with the two people, and suddenly stopped when she saw a group of people coming out of the base behind her. She murmured, "It's Xiao Zuo's team. They are leaving now. Xiang Chunyan, what are they going out for?"

"They're going to Fengcheng base to do some business. Hey, it's not something we should worry about anyway." Xiang Chunyan said.

Lou Ai looked at the familiar faces, all of whom were the people who went to Fengcheng Base with her.

Xiao Zuo, the team leader, had saved her once, and when he did so, he was bitten by a mutant wolf on his arm, leaving two bloody holes; Kong Qun, a medical soldier in the same team, saw that she had no food, so he left a few bites for her every time she ate; there was also someone who had fought with her all the way; there was also someone who had cursed at her during a tense relationship...

Even after so long, she hasn't forgotten all these things.

But these few people, because they held important positions in the team, were the last to fall behind when they left.

They died in that purple moon as a matter of course.

They had the ability to survive and live longer than her.

"Damn, it's him again. That swindler guy is here again." Xiang Chunyan couldn't help but curse in a low voice when he saw the Taoist priest following Xiao Zuo.

"Which one are you talking about?" Yao Shengyi asked curiously.

Xiang Chunyan explained: "The one next to the tall leader, the one wearing a Taoist robe, is a fortune teller. He told my uncle-in-law that he would be able to return safely after leaving home. But my uncle-in-law has not returned since he left home. He is probably dead... Hey, he is a liar anyway. I have inquired about it. He always tells good things about people's fortunes."

"Before Professor Meng left, that stinky Taoist priest went to Professor Meng and insisted on telling him his fortune, saying that Professor Meng would definitely be able to return to the Academy of Sciences safely. Isn't that nonsense? Sister Lou Ai, do you know how many people escorted Professor Meng? More than 200 special forces soldiers, just escorting one person back. No matter what, they won't die, right?"

The reverse blessing is the most deadly.

Lou Ai lowered her eyes and thought about Meng Yuanxi. She was sure that she could not remember anything about Meng Yuanxi. Maybe he lost his life during this escort. She looked at the Taoist priest. The Taoist priest was still praising Xiao Zuo for his strong ability and he would definitely come back safely. She twitched her lips. Crow's mouth?

However, the prophecy, Lou Ai couldn't help but look at Xiao Zuo, this was a good idea.

The more she thought about it, the more she felt that this method was feasible. She was already known as a master. Even if she calculated the future and gave Xiao Zuo and the others a warning, she could attribute all her abilities to supernatural powers.

Lou Ai covered her forehead with her hands. It seemed that she would not be able to get rid of the title of master for a while.

"Of course it's true... I've calculated the horoscopes of all the people in your team. Except for one or two who have bad fortunes, the rest are all destined to turn misfortune into good fortune. It means that even heaven is helping you on this trip. Also, get closer to trees, and the forests will provide you with resources. You will surely return with a full load, and you must treat me to a good meal. Let me tell you, the expert you often talk about is my apprentice, and she will say the same thing when she sees you." The Taoist raised his chin.

Lou Ai retorted: "Disciple?? I'm not without you, don't talk nonsense."

The Taoist priest glared at her and said, "What do you know, little kid? Did I tell you this? We are discussing state affairs."
