Ch. 11

Lou Ai quickly went downstairs and found her car in the corner.

The two zombies were still squatting beside the car dutifully, their cheeks were so frozen that they were an abnormally purple color.

However, Lou Ai thought she might be dazzled. Why did she feel that these two zombies were a little thinner??

Originally, the fat zombie and the red words in the middle of the glass door of the eyewear store were still fat, squatting there and completely covering the content of the red words, but now the red words seem to be barely visible, and the thin zombie is even thinner than a bamboo pole.

She is indeed not a good boss who is considerate of zombies.

Lou Ai nodded, opened the back seat, tore off the seat covers, then controlled the two zombies to squat on the back seat and asked them not to touch the backrests. If the two zombies had not run too slowly, she would have let them run behind the car.

"Roar, cackle, roar..." As the car started, the terrified growls of zombies sounded in the back seat.

There are forests and lakes in the south of the city, and there is also a very old park right next to it. When she was a child, her mother would often take her to the park to play. Later, her mother fell ill and died, and she never went there again. All she had in that park were beautiful memories, but she didn't expect that the reason she went there again this time was because of the end of the world.

Lou Ai sighed and stepped on the accelerator. The further southwest they went, the fewer zombies there were on the road.

Lou Ai parked the car and hid it in a corner of a deserted neighborhood.

Walking towards the buried tomb, the further inside she goes, the fewer intact buildings there are.

During this time, she also walked around the surrounding area and finally found two surviving zombies in a half-open store.

Lou Ai led four zombies into the park whose signboard was half blown up. The albizzia trees planted along the road in the park fell to the ground one by one, lying in all directions, and some were split in half. The smell of burning filled the air, emitting a foul odor.

Some of the public facilities close to the explosion were even melted into molten iron, which fell into a pool on the ground and solidified when it encountered the cold air.

Not to mention the various pieces of flesh and blood that were blasted over and dotted the open space.

Lou Ai looked at the destroyed public toilet which was only covered by a few bricks. Not far from the toilet was the explosion site. The charred land was as large as half a football field. The lake in the distance was also stained with fishy black blood, with layers of severed limbs floating on the water.

Even though Lou Ai had lived in the apocalypse for three years, this scene of corpses everywhere was enough to shock one's soul.

Perhaps only the scene after the zombies attack the city can compare with it.

Lou Ai collected her thoughts and looked around, but did not see any soldiers.

The troops should have withdrawn by now.

"Roar!" Lou Ai released the zombies' restraint, and the zombies couldn't wait to roar.

In the armored vehicle convoy two streets away, a man in thick military uniform looked back in the direction of the explosion.

"What's wrong, Captain Lu?"

"Nothing, maybe I heard it wrong. Let's speed up and after we cross this street, you ask Xiao Liu to use the horn."

Lou Ai naturally didn't know that the army was only two streets away from her. She commanded four zombies to find crystal cores for her: "Little Fatty, go to the east. You know the east, right? That's the side. Look for the hexagonal crystal, which has this kind of energy." Lou Ai took a crystal core that she had collected from the zombies before and demonstrated to them, "Thin guy, you go over there. Tall guy, you go to the farthest side. You must be able to run fast because you have long legs. Short guy, you look around here. If you find anything, don't keep it to yourself. Give it all to me. You will get all the benefits in the end, okay?"

Lou Ai simply named the four zombies in front of her according to their height, weight and body shape. After she finished speaking, the zombies scattered as if they understood, and implemented Lou Ai's plan step by step.

Lou Ai did not enter the area that had been bombed. She was afraid that if the aftermath of the bomb blew up some more, she would be injured, which would be more trouble than gain.

She was picking up bargains in the outer area. The attraction of zombie crystal cores to zombies was no less than that of humans. Because they were wrapped in zombie flesh and blood, the zombies would not kill each other.

The crystal cores were both broken and whole. She stopped after finding about forty of them. There seemed to be no zombie crystal cores in the outer area. She took out wet wipes, a small basin and alcohol cotton pads from her space and wiped the crystal cores in front of her vigorously. She tried her best to erase the scene in front of her from her mind. After wiping, she put the broken crystal cores directly into her mouth, and put the few whole crystal cores into a small basin.

Among the four zombies that entered the explosion area to search, the short one was the closest and the first to come back.

The short one probably had higher mental strength. He found a plastic bag from somewhere and brought back the crystal core. The ways of placing the crystal cores by the following zombies became more and more outrageous. The fat one took off a piece of clothing and brought it back, picking it up as it fell. The thin one put the crystal core in his pocket and ran two trips to bring it back. The most outrageous one was the tall zombie. He actually brought it back with his hands. Relying on his long legs, he ran countless times before he finally brought the crystal cores back.

Lou Ai didn't know whether to laugh or cry so she asked a few zombies who had picked up the crystal cores to run and face the wall.

The zombie crystal cores she found were far more than Lou Ai had imagined. The more crystal cores there were, the greater the possibility of attracting zombies. She didn't have time to wipe them, so she found a few clean bottles and basins and put all the intact crystal cores into the bottles. She wiped the crystal cores that were broken into two or three petals and ate them on the spot.

Lou Ai processed the crystal core very quickly. If someone was here, they would be able to see the afterimages left by her processing the zombie crystal core.

That’s it. Lou Ai took nearly half an hour to deal with it.

There are about one hundred and eighty complete crystal cores, and there are many more broken crystal cores, which together can equal the energy of four hundred crystal cores.

After Lou Ai finished eating the broken crystal core, the warm current in her body stimulated her to the point that beads of sweat appeared on her forehead, and the heavy, uncomfortable feeling was removed from her body.

Lou Ai stood up and moved around. Her body felt much lighter than before she ate the broken crystal core, and her strength also increased.

She placed her hand on the iron frame and bent it with force. The iron frame, which was as thick as her wrist, was bent down.

Lou Ai clenched her fists and showed joy. If classified according to the classification of superpowers, she is now considered a late-stage first-order superpower. To upgrade to a second-order zombie is three times that of the first-order, which requires about nine hundred zero-order crystal cores. By conversion, as long as she eats more than three hundred zero-order zombie crystal cores, she can be upgraded to a second-order zombie.

That’s it, only by upgrading faster and faster can her safety be guaranteed.

Lou Ai clenched her fists, took out five cans of high-quality beef from his backpack, and asked the zombies who were facing the wall to sit over and say, "Come on, one can of high-quality beef each. It's your reward for helping me pick up crystal cores. Eat it quickly."

"Roar." The zombies roared one after another.

"Although food is precious now, you don't have to be polite and eat." Lou Ai smiled and helped a few zombies open the lids of the cans.

Due to the pressure from the higher-level zombies, the zombies were all in low spirits. After all, their food was not the canned beef in front of them. They poked the beef with their fingernails and put it into their mouths, swallowing it whole without chewing it.

"Roar, cluck, roar." When Lou Ai finished eating the can, the zombies around him also finished eating.

Lou Ai stared at the four zombies in front of her, and after a long time she smiled: "Have you finished eating? If you have, I will send you on your way." Lou Ai stood up and took out the bayonet in the space. The four zombies were killed instantly without any reaction. Someone once told her that it was as easy for high-level zombies to kill low-level zombies as cutting tofu. She didn't believe it at that time, but now it seems to be true.

The gap between the low-level zombies and the high-level zombies is too big to resist the orders of the high-level zombies. Even if she asks them to commit suicide, it seems that some zombies will do so.

Due to the huge explosion just now, there is no sound around now, even the sound of the wind has become silent.

Lou Ai silently took out the crystal cores from the four zombies' heads, then took out a floral bed sheet from the space, wrapped the four people carefully, and ran towards the car. There was a patch of holly and some thriving wintersweet flowers in the community where she parked her car.

"Whether you were a good person or a bad person in your life, you are now free."

Lou Ai placed the corpses, bowed to the zombies in front of her, and then placed a plum blossom she had picked on the bed sheets of the four people, and simply worshiped: "I hope that in the next life, you can be born in a peaceful era, safe and happy."

After Lou Ai finished speaking, she turned back to her car, started the car, and drove out.

She couldn't stay here any longer, she had to chase the army.

About ten minutes after Lou Ai drove away, a zombie with flying yellow hair and rotten flesh on his face came to the explosion site. He looked at the scene full of scars and let out an angry roar. He sniffed the breath of the zombies, followed the smell to the park, and then ran into the community, disappearing in the blink of an eye.

*

Lou Ai looked at the time. It had been about two hours since she left the mall.

It should be impossible for the army to convert all the people in such a short time. She drove along the road towards the shopping mall. After about two streets, a large number of cars suddenly appeared in front of Lou Ai. Military green armored trucks made a buzzing sound. They were the military vehicles. Behind the armored vehicles, there were already many private cars following. Lou Ai followed behind the private cars.

The direction the army was advancing was exactly the shopping mall where Yang Yang and the others were staying.

After walking down another street, the army turned into the road of the residential area next to them. After stopping, several well-disciplined troops ran down from the armored vehicles and entered the residential area in a division of labor. After a long time, a slightly hoarse but deafening broadcasting voice with a strong sense of security was heard in the residential area.

"Residents in the community, can you hear me? We are the First People's Army of Province S. We are here to take people to the base. Those who can still move, please get up and go downstairs immediately. We will set up a reception area at the entrance of the community. If there are people at home who are unable to move, injured, or with children, please stand in front of the window and wait patiently for rescue. Our search and rescue team will come to help. Please don't create chaos. We will not abandon any of our citizens, but special times will require special treatment. Those who create chaos will be killed on the spot regardless of whether they are right or wrong."

"The army is coming? It's really the army!" Suddenly, a choked cheer came to Lou Ai's mind. It was the cheer of the residents of the nearby community.

Lou Ai was sitting in the car, and when she looked up she could see two residential areas facing each other. At this moment, on the residential buildings in the two communities, she could see heads of people squeezing in little by little on the windows of the army, some eagerly expecting, some crying with joy, all kinds of gazes mixed together in silent joy.
